Support the Elder Justice Act

The Federal Elder Justice Act, if passed intolegislation, will provide a wide range of�programs and grants�toimprove�detection�and handling of elder abuse. Progress continues interms of building support for S. 1070 and H.R. 1783. As Congress movedto its Independence Day recess periods – the House bill had a total of63 cosponsors and the Senate bill had 10 cosponsors. The House numberdoes exceed the number of cosponsors from the last Congress. However toensure action on the legislation these numbers in both the House andSenate must increase.
Inpast years, the bill came close to passing but failed because of lackof support in the House of Representatives. Therefore, it is extremelyimportant to get members of the House to co-sponsor and support thebill this year. Please contact your Representatives and ask for their support of the Elder Justice Act.
