FL LTCI company will stop implying state connnection
A marketing company thatconnects long-term care insurance agents with potential Floridacustomers has agreed to stop offering copies of the Long Term Care Insurance Self-Assessment Guide, published by the state’s Department of Elder Affairs, in its direct mail advertising. Long Term Care Solutions, of California, also has agreed to cease usingthe name State Long Term Care in Florida, said President Craig DeLue. Florida officials were concerned consumers would assume the mailing wascoming from Elder Affairs, or implied the state endorsed specificproducts. The one-page, double-sided letter quoted extensively from a2004 Florida Office of Long Term Care Policy report and included aresponse card that consumers could fill out to receive Elder Affairs’assessment guide “free.” Also on the mailing, in fine print, was a sentence stating consumersreturning the response card were giving agents affiliated with ACSIAInc., a private Oregon-base long-term care insurance agency, permissionto contact them. ACSIA is one of DeLue’s clients.
