Dems say they support universal health care

But, except for Edwards, they don’t say who will pay…

All seven Democrats who attended a forum sponsored by the Service Employees International Union and the Center for American Progress claim to support extending health care coverage to the nearly 50 million uninsured Americans.   But only John Edwards, who appeared with his wife, Elizabeth, said he’d pay for it by raising taxes, rolling back President George W. Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy.  “We didn’t get enough details from the other candidates on how they would pay for it,” said SEIU secretary-treasurer Anna Burger.
