The update summarizes the latestenrollment figures released by the Centers for Medicare & MedicaidServices and the Social Security Administration and compares them withearlier enrollment projections. TheFoundation’s Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured today alsoissued a separate document, “Dual Eligibles and Medicare Part D: AnImplementation Update,” that summarizes the early implementation of theMedicare drug benefit for the more than six million Medicarebeneficiaries whose prescription drug coverage switched from Medicaidto Medicare plans on January 1. This includes data,which can be sorted by state, on the percentage of Medicarebeneficiaries with drug coverage through the new benefit as well astype of coverage.
