TheKaiser Family Foundation today issued an enrollment update that breaksdown and explains the statistics related to enrollment under the newMedicare drug benefit and the separate low-income subsidy program thatprovides additional assistance. The update summarizes the latestenrollment figures released by the Centers for Medicare & MedicaidServices and the Social Security Administration and compares them withearlier enrollment projections. TheFoundation’s Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured today alsoissued a separate document, “Dual Eligibles and Medicare Part D: AnImplementation Update,” that summarizes the early implementation of theMedicare drug benefit for the more than six million Medicarebeneficiaries whose prescription drug coverage switched from Medicaidto Medicare plans on January 1. The update is available online.

In addition, statehealthfacts.orghas added the latest state-by-state Medicare drug coverage data fromthe Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This includes data,which can be sorted by state, on the percentage of Medicarebeneficiaries with drug coverage through the new benefit as well astype of coverage.
