Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota ranks hospitals

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota has announced a plan to assign hospitals to one of two tiers, with lower-cost hospitals “ranked” more favorably when it comes to reimbursement.  Many of Minnesota’s busiest and best known hospitals, including Hennepin County Medical Center and the Mayo Clinic, will fall into the less-desirable Tier II.  Not surprisingly, the plan is receiving criticism from around the state.  Read the full story  in today’s Minneapolis Star Tribune.
