The Sadin Institute on Law, Public Policy, and Aging invites applications for the position of Director. Founded in 1977, and housed within the Brookdale Center on Healthy Aging and Longevity of Hunter College in New York City, the Sadin Institute has been at the forefront of elder law and elder advocacy for the past thirty years. The Sadin Institute is committed to advancing the well-being, independence and dignity of older individuals through a multidisciplinary approach to law, drawing upon the disciplines of social work, health, public policy, and gerontology.
Duties: Reporting to the Executive Director of the Brookdale Center, the Director of the Sadin Institute will:
–Engage in a strategic planning process to shape the Institute’s future development;
–Identify and pursue opportunities for research, advocacy, and educational projects on emerging elder law and public policy issues;
–Partner with Hunter/CUNY schools, foundations, community-based organizations, and government agencies on creative public policy research and advocacy initiatives;
— Coordinate and supervise all Institute activities and programs; Strengthen recognition and support for the Sadin Institute.
Qualifications: The Director should be a dynamic individual who can expand the Sadin Institute’s ability to undertake initiatives in research and analysis of public policy and laws affecting the elderly. A Juris Doctor degree is preferred. In addition, the ideal candidate should have: Experience and preferably a degree in public policy, public health, gerontology, or health administration; Demonstrated success in securing public and private funds; Experience working with health and aging network providers and community advocacy groups; Ability to build a team that will focus on salient issues at the nexus of law, aging, social work, and public policy in a fast-paced work environment. Salary is commensurate with experience.
