Professor Louis Del Duca – A Long and Interesting Life, Well Lived
Tomorrow, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, there will be services honoring Professor Louis Del Duca of The Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University. Luigi lived a long, full life and was a man of many talents, from music, to tennis to law, and especially commercial law. His leadership helped to make “international, comparative” analysis a feature of many of our courses. He provided close to 60 years of service to our law school and continued to be fully engaged in scholarship and publications after he retired from the classroom. Professor Del Duca was known by lawyers, jurists and academics around the world, many of whom are making plans to attend the services. He was equally known for his devotion to his wonderful family.
I am sure that tomorrow there will be many rousing stories told, along with a few tears of sorrow at his passing. His biography is truly impressive, but more important, he will be remembered for his friendship to so many. He had a unique ability to be interested in and follow the careers of everyone he met, from college students to members of the highest courts. Many will miss “The Duke” and I will miss my neighbor, friend and mentor. Buon viaggio.
