Alzheimer’s Dogs ROCK!!!

All dogs rock (Cats do too, so don’t start with me over which is better, cats or dogs). We’ve been blogging with frequency stories about Alzheimer’s, so  I thought it was high time to post a good story: dogs specifically trained to help individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. I heard about this on the March 17, 2014 Ellen show when she featured as a guest, Brandon McMillan, who mentioned the training of a dog for an Alzheimer’s patient; the dog, on signal, will lead the person back home.  The January 21, 2014  article, Assistance Dogs for Alzheimer’s and Dementia Patients in Psychology Today highlights this and other skills the dog provides for its human companion.

So thinking how cool this is, I immediately fired up Google and searched for Alzheimer’s dogs.  There are a lot of cool programs that train dogs for people with Alzheimer’s disease, including those dogs who help the person find clothes and more.

Read about these programs yourself and if you have worked with any of these organizations, let us know.

This ROCKS!!!
