The Center for Medicaid & Chip Services (CMCS) of CMS has released an informational bulletin explaining the affected Medicaid provisions in the budget bill that was signed into law by President Obama on December 26, 2013. There are 4 sections that impact Medicaid.  First, the QI program was extended-this time for 3 months.  Second, transitional medical assistance (TMA) was also extended for 3 months.  Third, some changes were made to the Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) payments. Finally, there were several changes made to Medicaid Third-Party Liability program, which go into effect October 1, 2014. The informational bulletin may be accessed here.
