2014: AALS Aging and the Law Section Officers & Exec Committee Members

Earlier this month in New York City, members of the AALS Aging and the Law Section chose new officers for the next year.  They are:

• Chair: Mark D. Bauer, Stetson
• Secretary: Nina Kohn, Syracuse (Visiting at Maine for 2013-14)
• Treasurer: Laura Hermer, Hamline    

The Executive Commitee includes Alison Barnes (Marquette), Susan Cancelosi (Wayne State), Dione Duckett (Howard), Roberta Flowers (Stetson), Barry Kozak (John Marshall),  Thomas Schweitzer (Touro), Jonathan Stubbs (Richmond), and Larry Weiser (Gonzaga).  Great to see both familiar faces and new members joining the group that helps plan the January 2015 meeting in D.C.

I am the Chair-Elect, so please do let me know your ideas for the AALS Annual Meeting section program in January 2016. We will be returning to New York City for that year’s meeting, hopefully without the snow and ice to accompany us.  I’m thinking about a joint section meeting, perhaps with Tax or Immigration, given the important roles that both areas of law play in planning, especially in connection with third-party caregivers.  Now, how’s that for planning ahead?!
