Interactive Tools

I was reading the EBRIef (Employee Benefits Research Institute) and noted the story about saving. There was a brief item about the EBRI “Ballpark E$timate app” which is part of the Choose to Save® Program, a “national public education and outreach program…dedicated to raising awareness about the need to plan and save for long-term personal financial security.”  The Choose to Save site also has links to a number of calculators.  Another interesting one is the life expectancy calculator.

Social Security has a retirement estimator available (I have my students do this in class). There are other sites that will help someone calculate how much to save for retirement (do you have a favorite one?).

There are other interactive sites available that we can use for our students. The Medicare.gov website has some “compare” options, including those for hospitals, doctors, and nursing homes.

We will feature more in upcoming blog posts, so stay tuned.
