U.S. Administration on Aging Awards Almost $1 Million For New Alzheimer’s Disease Demonstration Grants

The U.S. Administration on Aging has awarded three (3) states: California, Minnesota, and New Jersey, a total of almost $1 million in funding to demonstrate how existing evidence-based service delivery research programs targeting persons with Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias (ADRD) or their caregivers can be translated into useful programs that can be administered at a reasonable cost at the community level through the Aging Services Network.  These projects will run for 18-months, which will allow each state to provide one full year of ADDGS direct services to persons with ADRD or their caregivers as well as evaluate results and produce four (4) required products.

The required products are:

  • A “how-to” manual that will readily allow others to implement the demonstrated program within their state or community;
  • Materials, such as training tools, surveys, brochures, etc that can be easily reproduced by others implementing the demonstrated service at the state or community level;
  • Submission of findings to relevant research/academic journals for publication; and
  • A cost assessment that will provide an estimate of the cost of program start-up and operation as well as the cost of serving clients as the program matures.
