Montgomery County Mediation Center (PA) a national leader in Elder Mediation, will hold its annual “Advanced Mediation Training:  Elder Mediation,” October 1-4, 2007, in Bryn Mawr, PA.  Participants will become oriented to the special practice issues that arise when working with the
older population, their families and care providers. The first three days focus on substantive issues and mediation process.  Day four (optional) will examine intake procedures, program policies andcommunity outreach necessary to develop a successful Elder Mediationpractice. From the framework of a relational model, the training will use lecture, video analysis, group discussion and role play practice to address:

Sensitivity to the Aging Process
Impact of Aging Bias on Conflict and Mediation
Conflicts Associated with Aging
Intergenerational Family Dynamics
Caregiver Concerns
Issues of Capacity and Abuse
Skill Development in Multi-Party Mediation
Mediating within Long-Term and Acute Care Settings
Elder Law Issues
Ethical Considerations
